North American Van Lines: A prime choice in moving for Canmore and beyond

If you’re on a hunt to find the best Canmore moving company around, you should look no further.

Located west of Calgary, the town of Canmore nears the border of Alberta’s southeast region, serving as neighbor to Banff National Park and Kananaskis Country, among other notable locations in the surrounding area. Somewhat humorously, the name of the town, Canmore, is derived directly from a Gaelic word which translates to mean “Big Head.” Modern Canmore has thrived primarily through a recently developed presence of local tourism, due largely in part to the town being host to the Nordic events of the 1988 Winter Olympics. An increased interest in tourism across the town persevered after this, allowing the once obscure Albertan mining town to become a trove for travelers looking to experience a Canadian locale that offers both historical authenticity and a wider than average variety of activities and attractions to take on.

The early history and development of the town largely revolved around the establishment of a charter for coal mining, first established in the late 1800s by Queen Victoria and giving rise to an industrial presence that increasingly thrived in the years and decades that followed—this was arguably the largest factor in allowing the settlement to develop into a town by the 20th century. Although much of this formerly significant presence of coal mining has largely been phased out in recent decades, historical remnants of the original mining village are still present throughout the town today, including a number of mine entrances and the town’s original lamp house. Also, included among these buildings of particular historical significance is the original Canmore Hotel—a very early lodging centre that is now over 120 years old, and still continues to operate and function normally.

Finding the right mover (in Alberta, or frankly anywhere else) can be a significant challenge. Luckily, when you opt for a move with the pros at North American Van Lines, you’ll be able to rest easy knowing that each and every aspect of your move will be taken on by an expert team that remains fully dedicated to serving your exact moving needs
